The Real Woman

Suman called Misha in the bedroom and told to close the door. Suman’s eyes were swollen as if she had cried for hours. Misha felt the pain and moved forward to console her dearest aunt. She took her personal diary from suman’s hand and was about to hug when Suman, with all her force, slapped Misha right in her face and pushed so hard, enough to make her see the stars.

“When your parents died you were just 10 YO and we brought you home. We never thought of having our own children so that you won’t feel alone and left. He did so much for you. Do you have any idea what you have written in your personal diary? Haven’t you thought once before accusing your own uncle of sexual harassment…’s such a big word Misha…”

Suman went on and on for an hour where Misha was thinking to herself

“This is the reason I have never ever thought of telling someone except my diary, not even you …”

Already stressed, Misha started feeling dizzy so she thought of leaving the room. The moment she turned, Suman held her hand and pulled her in.

“Where are you going Misha I told you to close the door, I want to talk to you. As you can see this diary in my hand, you know what I want to talk about… “

Misha came into all her senses as suman came closer and made her sit on the bed.

” You know it’s been so many days I have been willing to talk to you as I felt you are being so lost all the time. I literally raided your room Misha, and I found this…your personal diary. Within a minute I came to know the reason of your behavior except one. I didn’t get why you didn’t talk to me Misha. Why would you think that I won’t understand? Why you didn’t tell me this before? …”

“I thought you will kick me out of your house and then where will I go? Why would someone want to believe such things about their closed ones? Specially husband…” Misha was whimpering.

Suman was awestruck by Misha’s explanation.

” Oh Misha, I am so sorry my child, I don’t know what I have done to make you feel in such a way but trust me, I am with you…”

Every word was taking Misha by surprise. She suspected once that this is going to come but never expected to come in this way.

Suman continued,

“Now I want you to listen very carefully Misha, I have never ever thought in my life that this day would come and now that it has come unfortunately, I am going to take care of it no matter what it takes, but let me tell you one thing first, ITS NOT YOUR FAULT. I repeat it’s not your fault, Misha. I am glad that I decided to invade your personal space and come to know but it shouldn’t have happened this way. You should have told me this a the very first time and that’s what you are going to do from now onwards. Whatever happens, you are informing me right away. I can truly understand your trauma my child, I am so sorry I couldn’t protect you, Misha. I am feeling so ashamed…..”

“but it’s about your own husband….” Teary-eyed Misha interrupted innocently.

Does that make this thing less disgraceful and less horrified?

I am a wife Misha but I am a woman first. If not me, then who will understand what trauma it might have caused you. I know exactly why you chose not to speak. It didn’t come to me as a surprise. But trust me, I am with you with all my heart. I love you more than ever. I am surely going to make it up to you but I just want to tell you one thing Misha…

Today I will support you but what about tomorrow? It’s not about just one person. You can’t just write it in your personal diary and let it go. You can’t and you shouldn’t. You must stand for yourself. You must speak up. Learn how to protect and defend yourself. World is not a decent place to live, Misha. Perpetrators are everywhere, you must learn to protect yourself. Reinforce boundaries and make sure to have everything what it takes to have them. Dont blame yourself and don’t you ever feel guilty as it’s not your fault. Learn to fight back. Shame doesn’t belong to you. “

Suman was talking fiercely where Misha was still in disbelief, but somehow she got the hold of her thoughts and asked Suman, “Why are you supporting me. I mean your marriage will be at stake”.

Suman held her hand tightly and said,

“Yes,I know but we are women Misha and that’s what real women do. They help and support each other when needed. They stand by each other no matter what. Like a Pillar!! I don’t know whats gonna happen next but I am here and will stand by you forever. You have my words! “

…and Misha rested her head on suman’s shoulder as she felt the storm has come to the rest a bit…

This women’s day I hope for the day where there won’t be any Misha and if she is there, I hope she finds her suman, who is ready to stand by her!! Let’s pledge and press for progress together!!

As the world celebrates the International Womenโ€™s day, a bunch of bloggers has come together to rejoice this spirit of womanhood with this blog train hosted by Neha from Sharing our experiences, Deepali from myteenytot and Anubhuti from criesnlaughter for the month of March.

I would like to thank Reetuparna for introducing me. She says she is absolutely not proud to be born as a woman but before you judge her, go through her amazing blog post here , to know what exactly she has to say.

I would further like to introduce Rupali from rupalidotcom , so hop on the train to read some amazing takes on womanhood.

Top 10 reasons why I chose to embrace womanhood

Being raised in a conventionally orthodox, typical indian middle class family, i had absolutely no reason to love myself as a woman. Rather I had more reasons to hate the womanhood. From boobs to butts, shoppings to shavings…everything seemed to be so annoying!! When I grew up I had some Rock solid things to add to my hatred such as inequality, abuse, objectification…

But then, over the time, living everyday as a woman, I realized how women have been struggling past few decades to get the basic rights that they deserve. They are breaking through the barriers and rising to heights. Although it might not always be enjoyable being a woman, every woman deserves to feel like one. So I decided to embrace the womanhood!!!

Now I love the complicated and diverse existence of women, which has so many parts we often don’t consider. Being a woman is itself a multifaceted opportunity. No one said being woman is easy but have myriads of reason to love yourself being a woman.

Here are few reasons why I chose to love the woman in me:

Women are emotionally intelligent

Research says, women always score more than men in every scale when it comes to emotional intelligence. It has been scientifically proved that women has an edge over men when it comes to have those skillsets for a happy and successful life. We never ever tune out emotionally, and it helps enormously when it comes to nurturing and that’s the reason we are given the power to nurture a life within us.

We have the power to bring the life into the world, not just by giving birth but with our nurturing and caring nature that we express to people around us and the efforts that we put in.

We bleed

We bleed, that too every freaking month, sometimes even for a week. Every girl’s menstrual period is all about the pain, the discomfort, the pads and tampons and cups and what not, but somehow, I don’t see it as that much downer.

Do you know women tend to live more because of the expelled iron during periods.

Aren’t we blessed by mother nature with these unique feature. It tells alot about are health, our fertility, our famininity. It shows us how our body works.

On a fun note, I use it to avoid perfectly ridiculous things and spare me the torture. ๐Ÿ˜‰๐Ÿ˜‰

We give birth

Do I even have to explain this? Giving birth is life altering pleasure of all. The greatest joy in the world.

There’s no denying that it’s a hard and painful thing, but at the end it makes you feel incredible. It’s like acing the grueling marathon, which literally took your flesh and blood.

When your baby emerges from you and you see the tiny little ears and hairs and nose and eyes, you become stronger than before. All those tiny tickles and giggles would make you feel worthy.

The power to create, nurture and heal that is a part of our very being, endows us with unique abilities, positioning us as the centre of all existence and change around us.

We keep the universe grow at it’s pace. Who else can do that? No one but a woman!!

We breastfeed

If you are a mother you know what I mean!!!

I would explain this on a personal level. I was able to help a friend of mine who was hospitalized, by breastfeeding her infant. I was able to do that just because mother nature has nurtured me by giving this incredible power.

Only a woman has an ability to feed her baby. Only a mother can go through this heavenly feeling.

This is so unique and special, it makes me feel proud being a woman.

Good listener and multitasker

Women are born to multitask. My husband can’t hold the baby while drinking water. I hold the baby, cook, think, talk, dance, laugh, sometimes eat….at a time!!

Why women talk more because they listen more!!! We are wired that way!!

Simple as that! ๐Ÿ˜Ž

Clothes and clips

Iโ€™m envious of suits, but most of the wearable art belongs exclusively to women. They ended up taking over high heels. Fashion and beauty is a fun and creative form of self-expression, and if I was a man I might have missed out on it.

Also, we are supposedly accepted to wear men’s clothing but can you do vice versa..nope!!! ๐Ÿ˜Ž๐Ÿ˜Ž

Multiple orgasms I don’t want to go into explaining Gray’s anatomy but just one important thing..women orgasm more. Whenever they want , however they want, without anybody even realizing it. That’s the power of womanhood right!!!๐Ÿ’ช

Men can’t enjoy multiples because their bodies need a โ€œrefractory periodโ€ to recover from orgasm, but the multi-orgasmic woman possesses the power to enjoy double o’s or more, without limitations.

If you haven’t discovered it yet, you got the new purpose for life!!! It’s just a matter of a hand shower๐Ÿ˜‰๐Ÿ˜‰

Boobs and butts

These boobs are not just a mere distraction for the men, but they lactate to feed our young. If that’s not a miracle then what is?

I embrace and love my body, my curves, my sensibility, and my sensuality immensely. We are, arguably and uniquely, some of the most beautiful creatures on earth. If not the most. Without us the world would stop!!

We have been build up visually beautiful!!

We have something to fight for

We are from the vigorous clan to whom the whole movement by the name of feminism has been dedicated. We have fought are way to success. We are fighters.

We still have long way to go with the equality but being a part of a fight makes me feel important and empowered.

Being a part of the inspirational clan

I love being a woman when I see women who broke the glass ceilings.

We endure the pain and sometimes everyday can simply be more iritation. But here is the silver lining. These manifestation, battles and struggles have made us even stronger and smarter than before. There are few women like Sindhutai Sapkal, Major Kumud, Fighter pilots Avani, Bhavna, Mohana and many more who make me feel proud of being a woman.

Although as a women we have miles to go, we have come a long way together!!!

We are soft but strong, beautiful and brave, this beauty is unique as well as faminine, so much so it can not be matched. I love being a woman and would not want to change that !!!
